India's electronic imports in FY24 have experienced a significant decrease due to the 'Make in India' campaign and the increased localization efforts of major companies.
Samsung and Apple's Indian units have reported a year-on-year drop of over 7% in imports as they focus on expanding their local manufacturing strategies.
The combined import value of eight prominent electronics companies, including Whirlpool, Dixon, and Havells, has fallen to Rs 95,143 crore, marking the first decline in at least six fiscal years.
This decline is seen as unprecedented by industry executives and reflects a shift in the consumer electronics sector's reliance on imports.
