Hamburg orders 350 electric buses from Daimler for sustainable transit fleet

Hamburg's public transit agency, Hamburger Hochbahn AG, has ordered 350 electric buses from Daimler Buses, specifically the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro and eCitaro G models.

The decision to choose these buses was based on their low total cost of ownership and ease of repair throughout their service life.

Daimler Buses is excited about this exclusive contract and highlights the eCitaro's recognition as the 'Electric Bus Champion' in 2024, which positions it as a key player in Hamburg's move towards sustainable e-mobility.

The eCitaro buses will come with NMC3 batteries and advanced assistance systems that exceed the requirements set by the European Union's General Safety Regulation, including Preventive Brake Assist and Sideguard Assist.

Hamburger Hochbahn AG aims to have a fully zero-emissions bus fleet powered by green electricity by the early 2030s.

The agency's commitment to sustainability has already earned it the German Sustainability Award 2024.
