India to introduce legal framework for data privacy and innovation investment

The Indian government plans to introduce a legal framework that will protect data privacy and promote the free flow of data among trusted partners.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal discussed India's potential as a technology and innovation hub and stressed the importance of a strong legal system.

Goyal also highlighted opportunities for collaboration between India and the UK in various technological fields, including artificial intelligence, telemedicine, climate modeling, precision agriculture, and the organic chemical, electronic, and food industries.

He addressed concerns about the impact of new technologies on employment and mentioned India's efforts to reskill its workforce.
