SpaceX has secured contracts worth $733.5 million for nine launches under the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 3 Lane 1 program.
These contracts include seven missions for the Space Development Agency (SDA) and two for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), with launch dates set for late 2025 and throughout 2026.
The NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 program operates under an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract structure, with a total estimated value of approximately $5.6 billion over five years.
SpaceX, along with Blue Origin and United Launch Alliance (ULA), has been selected as a primary vendor, competing for individual task orders within this framework.
The SDA will use SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket to deploy small satellites into a low-Earth orbit (LEO) constellation, while the NRO will also utilize Falcon 9 for its missions.
The NSSL Phase 3 program aims to enhance the speed at which new capabilities can be placed into orbit, supporting national security objectives more effectively.
The program also provides opportunities for emerging launch providers to participate in the bidding process, fostering competition and innovation within the aerospace industry.
The NSSL Phase 3 program anticipates at least 30 Lane 1 missions during its five-year base ordering period, with the potential for a five-year extension.
This collaboration between government agencies and private companies like SpaceX is expected to shape the future of national security operations and contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the U.S. aerospace sector.
