Donald Trump has chosen Jamieson Greer as the U.S. Trade Representative, a key position in his administration's efforts to reshape international trade through tariffs. Greer's previous work in imposing tariffs on China and renegotiating NAFTA into the USMCA was highlighted by Trump as significant contributions.
Greer, who has a background in international trade law, previously served as chief of staff to USTR Robert Lighthizer. Trump emphasized that Greer's focus, pending Senate confirmation, will be on reducing the trade deficit and expanding export markets globally.
Howard Lutnick has also been selected by Trump as commerce secretary, overseeing the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
