Calm Storm named top early-stage investor in European digital health sector

Calm/Storm, a venture capital fund based in Vienna, has been recognized as Europe's most active early-stage investor in digital health for the third year in a row.

Calm/Storm made 33 investments in the digital health sector in 2024, contributing to the approximately $10.4 billion in investments received by the HealthTech industry in Europe this year.

Founder Lucanus Polagnoli expressed pride in the fund's mission to transform healthcare through innovative software solutions, with a particular focus on underrepresented areas such as women's health, mental health, and taboo topics.

Currently, Calm/Storm is invested in over 80 start-ups and aims to create the largest HealthTech community for founders in Europe. They provide support to companies from pre-seed to seed stages until they secure significant international financing rounds.

Notable successes include Flo Health, the first FemTech company in Europe to achieve Unicorn status, and Alan, a French InsurTech scale-up valued at €4 billion.
