PhonePe's Chief Technology Officer, Rahul Chari, has expressed a careful approach to incorporating generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) into the company's operations, particularly in core areas such as payments and lending.
During his speech at the CNBC-TV18 & Moneycontrol Global AI Conclave 2024, Chari emphasized that the company is currently focused on experimentation rather than fully adopting Gen AI.
He cited concerns about data protection, regulatory compliance, and the rapid pace of technological advancements as reasons for this cautious approach.
At present, PhonePe's AI initiatives are limited to non-core areas, with a focus on simplifying internal processes, particularly within the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Chari mentioned that AI is being used to improve testing phases, automate marketing campaigns, and generate content for the company's Share Market platform.
This reflects a strategic and cautious exploration of AI capabilities.
