The Clinique médicale Angus, a major private medical clinic in Montreal, is being sold by the Tootelo company due to financial difficulties.
This clinic is one of the largest in Quebec and serves approximately 37,000 patients. It employs around 100 medical professionals, including general practitioners and specialists.
The announcement of the sale has raised concerns among patients and employees about the potential impact on healthcare services. Tootelo informed employees about the sale in October, but has not indicated any immediate risk of closure or job losses.
The Health Minister's office is closely monitoring the situation to ensure that services for patients continue without interruption. If there is a transfer of ownership, the government expects that services will remain uninterrupted during the transition.
Some critics have expressed concerns about the motivations of private investors in the healthcare sector, suggesting that profit may be prioritized over patient care.
