During his visit to Italy for the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the need for a collaborative approach in the Indo-Pacific region.
He highlighted the changes in the Indo-Pacific landscape, particularly the development of the Quad - a group consisting of Australia, India, Japan, and the US. Jaishankar stressed the importance of practical solutions, nimble diplomacy, and open conversations to address the challenges in the region.
In the outreach session, he outlined six key responses for the Indo-Pacific, including collaboration in maritime security, semiconductors, and supply chains. He called for increased resources to support activities and projects, while also emphasizing the need to avoid unsustainable debt.
Jaishankar also emphasized the importance of building capacities in governance, health, technology, disaster resilience, and natural resource management. He highlighted the significance of promoting interoperability and burden-sharing to contribute to the global good.
