French government seeks nearly 10 billion euros for 2025 budget amendments

France's budget minister, Laurent Saint-Martin, has stated that there could be requests to modify the 2025 budget amounting to approximately €10 billion ($10.6 billion).

The government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier is facing challenges in maintaining its position due to political pressures. Saint-Martin has expressed concerns about the financing of a compromise on electricity taxation and has made it clear that he is against increasing gas taxes to offset the costs.

The proposed revisions are a response to demands from Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally party and other political factions.
