ebi lifts ban on axis capital but restricts debt market operations

Axis Capital, which was previously banned by SEBI, has been allowed to resume certain operations in the debt market. However, there are still restrictions in place.

Axis Capital is not permitted to provide credit risk cover, guarantees, or indemnities related to the purchase of pledged shares. They are also prohibited from participating in structured secured credit transactions within the debt segment.

This comes after an interim order in September 2024 that prevented Axis Capital from acting as an investment banker in the debt market. The recent confirmatory order highlights the ongoing scrutiny of Axis Capital's activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards while operating within the financial sector.
