Tesla warned over social media promotion of driver-assistance technology before probe

Tesla Inc. received scrutiny from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding its promotion of driver-assistance technology on social media.

An NHTSA official expressed concerns over seven posts shared by the company on a platform owned by CEO Elon Musk. These posts featured disengaged drivers using the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which Tesla has marketed.

The NHTSA's warning came before it initiated an investigation into the FSD system, highlighting the regulatory body's focus on the safety implications of Tesla's marketing practices. This intervention emphasizes the ongoing scrutiny of autonomous vehicle technologies and the responsibilities of manufacturers in accurately representing their capabilities.
