India"s commerce ministry plans to work closely with the United Kingdom to address outstanding issues as negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) are set to resume in 2025.
The ministry aims to promptly finalize the dates for these discussions, building on previous progress made before negotiations were paused in March 2024 due to general elections in both countries.
During a recent bilateral meeting at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the significance of the FTA.
Starmer highlighted that the new trade deal is expected to boost jobs and economic prosperity in the UK, representing a significant step towards enhancing growth and opportunities across the country.
