The Labour government in the UK is facing significant challenges due to a sharp decline in housing starts in England.
According to official data from the Office for National Statistics, new home construction has fallen to fewer than 88,000 in the year ending June, which is the lowest level since 2009.
This decline is concerning as it is the worst 12-month period for housing starts in almost 15 years, raising doubts about the government's ability to effectively address the housing shortage.
