byju's founder allegedly tried to evade testimony by offering bribe

Byju Raveendran, the CEO and founder of Byju's, allegedly tried to convince William R. Hailer, a businessman from Nebraska, to leave the United States in order to avoid testifying in federal court.

Hailer claimed in court that Raveendran sent him a plane ticket to Dubai just two days before his scheduled testimony. The testimony was related to Raveendran's attempts to regain control of certain parts of Byju's, which had been taken over by a court-appointed trustee.

The ticket, worth almost $10,700, was presented as evidence in court. Hailer also stated that Raveendran offered him a job in Dubai with a salary of $500,000 if he agreed to come immediately. Hailer alleged that Raveendran urged him not to testify and emphasized that his salary would start as soon as he arrived.

The court hearing took place in Wilmington, Delaware, before US Bankruptcy Judge John T. Dorsey.
