Comcast Corp. plans to separate a number of its cable-TV channels, such as MSNBC, CNBC, and USA, as part of a strategic move to reduce its involvement in a declining business that is facing challenges with viewer engagement and advertising revenue.
This decision reflects the company"s response to the changing landscape of television consumption. Despite divesting these channels, Comcast will retain ownership of its NBC broadcast network and the Peacock streaming service, which are considered more viable assets in the current media environment.
Additionally, Bravo, known for its popular reality TV programming, will also remain under the Comcast umbrella. This restructuring aims to streamline operations and focus on more profitable segments of the media industry.
